We are pleased to announce that we participated at the 10th ICEVI European Conference: Exploring Innovation in Accessible Music Education for the Visually Impaired, which took place on 15-17 May 2025, in Padua, Italy.
As part of the programme, Anna Nicotra, doctoral student at Siena Jazz University, presented a poster titled Braille and Digital Music, based on the findings of the MuVie project.
The poster highlights:
- the barriers that blind students face in music education due to limited access to Braille scores;
- the development of a digital Braille music library;
- the design of the Braille Music Reader 2025 (BMR), which integrates speech navigation and supports jazz chord symbols in Braille.
In addition, Anna Nicotra contributed to the oral presentations on 17 May, with a session titled: Understanding the Needs of Blind Students in Music Education: Results of the MuVie Project User Needs Analysis. This talk shared insights from user research, highlighted current accessibility issues and outlined future directions for inclusive music teaching.
