MuVie at the Global Disability Summit 2025

Published on 06 May 2025

In order to directly discuss the needs of visually impaired people we participated in the Global Disability Summit held in Berlin on 2 and 3rd April 2025.

The Global Disability Summit 2025 brought together over 4,500 participants from nearly 100 countries. Co-hosted by the International Disability Alliance (IDA), the Government of Germany, and the Government of Jordan, the summit aimed to accelerate global efforts toward disability inclusion. A central highlight was the endorsement of the Amman-Berlin Declaration, which introduced the "15% for the 15%" target—urging that at least 15% of international development programs be dedicated to disability inclusion. This declaration was endorsed by over 90 governments and organisations, marking a significant step toward measurable progress in disability rights. The summit also emphasised the importance of data and evidence in shaping disability-inclusive policies and highlighted the need for sustained political will and accountability to turn commitments into tangible outcomes.

During this summit we had the opportunity to meet representatives and participants from several countries as well as to make interviews with visually impaired persons and stakeholders dedicated to support assistive policies for blind people from Germany and all over the world. We managed to discuss and disseminate the approaches followed from the MuVie Project. The results of the interviews will be analysed as part of our User Needs Document and published on our website at a later date.
